Hansel and Gretel as Witch Hunters sounds brilliant

A reinvention of the well-worn fairy tale has finally crossed the line into the guy territory of pure cheesy awesome-ness. This movie deserves to be in one of those theaters that serve brew along with French fries and hamburgers. Hansel and Gretel as Witch Hunters sounds brilliant. Let's hope that it crushes the awful slew of Snow White movies we've had in the last year. I only wish Hansel could put one in Kristen Stewart so I wouldn't have to see her in another movie.

And honestly, who could go wrong with casting the dude that played Hawkeye, the new Bourne Guy, and raced around with Tom Cruise in the latest Mission: Impossible movie? His career is exploding, and I don't really even know his name. I guess I should learn it.

Have a great Tuesday.

  1. I know his name...at least when I see the posters. But when I don't have the posters in front of me, I don't know it either. haha.

  2. That's an interesting take on a well known story. If it's done well, it might even entice me into a movie theater.

  3. Reminds me a little of the Van Helsing movie which they had toys and sequels and everything prepared for, but no one liked it, and also the same premise as Brothers Grimm. The twist on the classic fairytale is a bit in vogue at the moment, not sure this has anything really new.

  4. Guy territory my arse! This looks awesome, I can't wait to see this. And the actors name is Jeremy Renner.

  5. I started watching the trailer, and thought that the movie and idea was really original and exciting. Then I saw Famke Janssen as one of those freaky witches and I screamed. I love Famke, and think she's excellent in evil roles. This movie is going to be epic!

  6. Jeremy Renner. Dude is in everything these days.
Someone else posted all the reasons why this movie will fail miserably. While the whole idea is out there, and it is a January release, I have a feeling Renner didn't select a dud. Think it looks wicked.

  7. Different spins on fairy tales seems to be popular right now. I have a writing friend who likes to write these and she always has agents looking at her work.

  9. This looks quite silly; I'll probably give it a go. It reminds me a lot of Van Helsing in its style; I like it :)

  10. I found the guy very believable in Avengers. The other roles seem to be very similar. It's like Hawkeye playing Bourne. I dunno.

  11. Awesome! I'm sharing this trailer with my teenage stepdaughter to earn cool points, which are few and far between (I think the last time I earned some was when I got an early copy of the last Hunger Games book and let her pass it around to her friends). Thank you, Michael!

  12. I love the concept of this -- Hansel and Gretel as witch hunters. That part is brilliant, but when I watched a clip of it over at Hollywood Spy I wasn't so thrilled. Don't quite understand the addition of all the oversized guns. That was a little too anachronistic for me.

  13. Well, of course I'll watch it. :-)

  14. I'm quite tired of Kristen Stewart, and I don't go to the movies often at all.
Sounds like a nice spin on an old tale.

  15. Jeremy Renner. Oh god, i love him so much. SOOOOO MUCH! Seriously, he is at the top of my list right now. I can't get enough of him

  16. Why can't they leave the poor witches alone, not all of them can be bad.
He is an ok looking dude, but if he has the acting chops, I might take notice of him.
Thanks for visiting, Michael...I have been reading 20* 500 word stories all weekend, and had a burn out. I have neglected my other blogger friends....will make it up this week.

  18. I'm kind of interested in it but mostly because of Jeremy Renner.

  19. We must really be out of ideas when we have to rely on gritty reboots of fairy tales from centuries ago.

Actually looking forward to seeing this one. I always enjoy a different take on a classic.

  26. Michael, how Stewart could be a credible Snow White is beyond me. I like the idea of Hansel and Gretel as hunters too.

  27. Even the village looked like Van Helsing. But those guns...oh yeah. Gotta see this.

  28. Oooo I love the sound of this too :) Poor Kristen Stewart, you think she will get better with ever movie, but she doesn't :(

  32. This movie definitely looks like fun in a Van Helsing kinda way. Love the crossbows. Since I'm now hooked on the show Grimm this movie seems a logical choice for me.

  33. I am waiting for this movie to come out. I hope it is done right. You're right, Renner's career is booming right now. I met him at a film festival in 2009 albeit he wouldn't remember me from a stray cat. Lol

  34. Oh wow! I'm definitely interested in seeing this movie. Never heard of this til now. Thanks!

  35. This is the first I've seen this. Yes, I laughed when I saw it, but then I was like, yeah, I'd watch it. I think all they hype around Snow White was a let down for viewers, this one might actually be better than expectations.
