Anonymous To Attack Facebook

PK63WBBDRZWU <== Technorati claim code (trying to get Technorati to find my website) :)

I saw that the hacker group Anonymous has scheduled to attack Facebook on November 5, 2011 of this year.  They use melodramatic words like "It will be destroyed through digital warfare."  I think that these guys are kind of scary--like a Tech version of Al-Qaeda.  I really wish they could be tracked down and arrested. I have no idea what they plan on doing but I bet it has something to do with bringing down the website and making public everyone's information for the whole world to see which seems to be their modus operandi.  So basically, a lot of innocent people are going to get victimized.

Here's there YouTube video announcing their attack.
The claim code above is to get my blog registered with Technorati.  They ask that you embed it at the beginning of the post so that their "bot" can find it...kind of a pain since it's already failed once.  This time I'm making it more obvious.

Have a great Thursday :)

  1. You should be careful what you say about Anonymous. They can hack into your BRAIN!

  2. I think Zuckerberg's already done a nice enough job exposing people's personal data on Facebook. Really though announcing that you're going to do it 3 months in advance seems stupid. Maybe they just want to make it extra challenging.

  3. Matt: LOL. That's awesome and very funny.

Mutt: So maybe it's just a media thing to see if they can scare people. I'll be interested to see though if Facebook gets "destroyed" on November 5.

  4. Marjorie: Yeah perfectly serious from what I understand. These guys are the same ones that have been in the news all year hacking into police stations and bringing down Visa. They even tried to attack Amazon. They are part of the Julian Assange WikiLeaks supporters and have this idea that by exposing information to the world it is helping everyone.

  5. What is the Technorati?

I don't really think Anonymous believes there are innocent people. By using facebook, you become guilty. They've also said they're going to bring down PayPal.

I'm sure the government has some sort of task force at work to bring them down... or, you know, hire them.

  6. First I have to snort at Matt--what a nut.

I feel like I stepped into a SciFi movie. I guess Facebook has some info on me, but not anything different than I have on my blog or linked in or anywhere else. I've openly accepted a TMI lifestyle, so have atter...

And yeah... am I interested in Technorati? Or is it for... you know... technical stuff?

  7. Hi everyone. Okay, here is the rundown on what I know about Technorati.

It is a website that diverts traffic to your blog by featuring your blog in categories based off of tags. I'm trying to get my blog claim done but it is tedious and somewhat difficult because you have to embed the code up top so that their bot can find and verify that the blog belongs to you.

No matter what, they can only add to your traffic and it's free so I think it's worth the hassle of trying to register with them (which is what I've been trying to do for two months).

Things you will need to know: Your feed URL. Just do a google search on how to know this if you don't have a clue. It is slightly different from your blog URL. Also you will have to fill out a bunch of questions about your blog.

  8. Considering the fractorial nature of Anonymous I doubt this campaign has much support. Just because one person leaks a video or tweet claiming to be Anonymous the media get hysterical. I haven't seen a press release from AnonNews (which is the legit side of Annon) so I think this is a bogus mission.

  9. Wired did a story on Anonymous a year or two ago. They are kinda like a force of nature. I like to think of them as Magneto. Sorta trying to do the right thing, but also really wanting your respect and fear... And willing to crush anyone who happens to be around.

Good luck on the technorati thing. I remember trying to register a website I used to run with google and getting real frustrated.

  10. Steph: O.o... I had no idea that they had an actual website. You are more tech savvy than I so hmmm...this may be bogus. I apologize if I've misled anyone. It just seemed legit.

  11. I didn't even know what Anonymous was until now. Hmm. Maybe this would concern me if I posted stuff on my FB that I don't want anybody to know about. If I don't have that problem, that means I have nothing to worry about, right? Right . . .?

  12. Crazy terrorist nerds. I don't see the benefit in doing this, other than fleeting fame, and not the "don't you love them?" kind. The "most hated people in the world" kind. It makes me wanna hurl.
    Happy Thursday! LOL!

  13. Just don't hack into Twitter, please! Am I shallow, because I prefer their icon over FB's? Or do I just love the challenge of saying something in 140 or fewer characters. Well, definitely the latter, and perhaps some of the former. :)

  14. Good grief.

Good luck registering your blog with Technorati! I thought about registering my blog with a site that's supposed to bring more traffic; but they insisted on categorizing my blog, and not all of my posts are on writing. :P

  15. Today is the second time I've come across this and the first time I hoped it was a hoax, kinda like the hundred or so emails I used to get telling me not to click on this or that. Well, at least they've given advance warning. Time enough to do...whatever it is that needs to or can be done.

  16. I definitely think it's a hoax. Anonymous is after corporations not people and if someone does this in the name of Anonymous be suspicious because the government and lots of corporations/banks would love to get ordinary people to think Anonymous were just "Crazy terrorist nerds". We all have more to fear from the corporations that have so much information on all of us via our computers and our credit cards and our phones than we do Anonymous. Not to mention that our own beloved military has a plan in place for what to do with any US citizens trouble makers who might even think about trying to cause trouble or riot here. And your worried about Anonymous? Please.

  17. Hehehehe, brain hacking is a REAL problem these days.

and as for Facebook, anyoen who has private info up there is just ASKING for trouble anyway.

  18. More disturbing to me than the supposedly-Anonymous video (which you really should check on the validity of before you post -- you could even tweet to AnonNews to ask) is the fact that virtually NO ONE is talking about what Facebook does with personal information. It's not just the information that you put on Facebook that they use - it's demographic information.

Your friends define where you stand in society, and that's all they need to know in order to sell you.

    THINK, people.

  19. We are in your Facebooks, hacking your braaaains.

    Ahem.

There's a lot more scary stuff in the world than these guys, real or not. (Sorry!) So, kinda Fail on their part. But points for the creepy UN like symbology. I kinda dig that. :)

    Thanks for sharing!

  20. E: thanks for commenting. I had no idea Anonymous had their own AnonNews organization at the time of the posting.

Thanks for visiting everyone. I really appreciate it :)

  21. Imagine if those people used their technical prowess to do something important. Something worthwhile.

  22. I've been wondering if the post about this were for real or not. I'm not too worried either way. If FB goes down, life will still go on.
