And just because last night's episode of A Game of Thrones featured the "red wedding" event that most fans dreaded was coming, I give you a picture of the Iron Throne that's so epic, it just might all be worth it. Image courtesy of Random House Mexico. On second thought, I guess if you're a Stark, maybe not....
Click to Embiggen. That's definitely a throne room big enough to hold huge dragon skulls! |
I really like that pictorial. The kid was so cute, but the King looks really ominous in the last shot. (Not sure I understand the attraction of the entire GoT thing -- but to each his own.)
ReplyDeleteHe's a great example of why incest is a bad idea.

That was frigging awesome. Thanks for sharing that Mike. Also the throne room pic looks amazing.
ReplyDeleteStark probably has a bathroom that size.
ReplyDeleteDang why didn't Batman toss him a Batgrenade instead of his night periscope dealie?
ReplyDeleteHa, he did go on to do GREAT things!
ReplyDeleteWhoa. I you get a much better sense of scale in that picture. The throne is gigantic!
ReplyDeleteI skipped over most this post for fear of spoilers (we don't watch GOT until monday nights) but i love that first pic.
ReplyDelete@Lexa: The attraction of GoT is because it happens to be pop culture at this point and not because it's particularly spectacular. Sometimes things "catch on." I like to follow what a lot of people are interested in. FWIW, it's entertainment. I've often called it a soap opera.
ReplyDelete@Moody: LOL at least the character is. The actor is one of the most talented I've ever seen. I hope he continues to make movies. I (for example) think he'd make a great actor for one of my characters.
@Sheena: I love the pic of the throne. I keep thinking, "Why couldn't they use that in the television show?"
@Alex: LOL I think you mean Tony Stark. I agree. I never realized until your comment that the last names are the same between those two franchises.
@Pat: Good question. No answer.
@Theresa: I hope you're being facetious.
@Jay: Yeah I like it.
@Sarah: I don't think it has spoilers unless you get a sense of overwhelming dread. I suppose that could be a spoiler.
Pretty pic. The last one, I mean.
ReplyDeleteLaughing at Mood's comment...
ReplyDeleteYep. The red wedding. I knew it was coming last night, and it didn't make it any easier to watch. Brutal. Just...wow.
I dreaded watching the Red Wedding. I love your additions to that Batman scene.
ReplyDeleteI saw that image a few months ago. Had to be told about Thrones on why it was funny.
ReplyDeleteWhy'd you have to save that little brat, Batman? Damn! The throne pic is totally awesome.
ReplyDeleteI thought knowing what was coming would make the Red Wedding easier to watch last night but that wasn't the case at all. Gave me a chill down my spine. :(
haven't seen the episode yet, hope it has my Dragon Queen, because I usually fall asleep if she and King of North aren't featured (especially now that Alfie Allen's willie has been cut off :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen any of this season yet....sigh....so behind!
ReplyDeleteAs Mike knows the Red Wedding almost got me to stop reading the series. There's too many unlikable characters in GOT and this sent me over the edge. As I finished book 3 I realized that no one in the book is as black and white as they appear which I wonder is Martin's real goal with the series.
ReplyDeleteFor those upset by this episode just know the rest of book 3 is fantastic (which will be season 4 on HBO) and has possibly the most satisfying ending I've ever read. It has a few twists I doubt anyone will see coming (unless the TV show isn't as subtle as the book).
LOL, Mood!
ReplyDeleteThe throne room is amazing. The throne itself looks a bit like...a scorpion covered in porcupine quills, so yeah, also amazing!
I think I'm glad I'm ignorant about this red wedding business. Sounds intense.
ReplyDeleteLove Mood's comment!
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen season 3 yet but am anxiously waiting for the DVD release!
I assumed that was what everyone is talking about. I won't get to see season 3 until the dvds come out, but I've read all the books and that didn't get covered in season 2. :)
ReplyDeleteThat throne does NOT look comfy.
ReplyDeleteThat throne does NOT look comfy.
ReplyDeletehey quit with the spoilers! I'm still on season one!
ReplyDeleteThe throne room is gorgeous and of course is basically the apse of a gothic cathedral. If you look outside, or if the set designer does it right, there should be flying buttresses.
ReplyDeleteI want me a throne room like that one, where I can loll about all day and my subjects can come and pay homage...okay, reality check!
ReplyDeleteThat looks uncomfortable; but the room itself is awesome.
