Barriss Offee

Barriss Offee
Barriss Offee was padawan to Jedi Master Luminara Unduli. You saw her briefly in the movies when she and her master were sent to the planet Geonosis (that would be in "Attack of the Clones") and quite a bit in the Clone Wars (where the above picture is from).

Barriss Offee had the ability to use floating meditation, which looks kind of cool. She's also a skilled Jedi healer with very strong telekinesis abilities. She and her master held up an entire cave roof that was collapsing long enough for Yoda to arrive to rescue them. The Jedi-pedia says that Offee can force choke someone to death without even being in the same room or being able to see them. Even Vader couldn't do that.

I was really surprised that Barriss Offee turned to the dark side in the last episode of the series. And I'll probably always want to know what Luminara Unduli would have to say about that. Below is the speech that Barriss gave to the Jedi Order shortly before she was sentenced for the terrorist attack on the Jedi Temple.

  1. To answer your question in the comment you'd left on my blog...No, I haven't seen Black Swan yet, but it just so happens that I ordered it on Amazon recently.

If I were to see the movie you mentioned here, I wonder if Barriss Offee's fall is something that is foreshadowed. I don't know if people ever turn evil overnight.

  2. Oh, man, I didn't want to know that!

Am I not going to be able to read these posts?

  3. Great quote you posted, she seems like an interesting character. I like her diamond-shaped freckles and that she can force choke someone in a different room. Nice. Wish I had watched the series...maybe after I catch up on Supernatural...

  5. I'm a Star Wars fan. Sadly though, I've never been able to immerse myself more in the universe because I know it's MASSIVE.

  7. The dark side seems to get the best of them in some way, only Luke seems not tempted!

  9. I didn't like how Barriss set up her friend but I've always thought the Jedi Council were corrupt and in many ways no better than Sith. They just wrapped it in the guise of honor.

I do like how the Clone Wars introduced gray to the black and white world of Lucas' vision. Nothing is ever that simple and it is a shame we will never see the series play out.

  12. What a venomous speech. It was too bad she turned. My nephews were all disappointed as they liked her.

  13. Interesting! I didn't know that, but then, I haven't followed the Clone Wars. She has cool powers! And cool powers are always . . . cool. :)

  24. That was a gut-wrenching speech she gave. And there's some truth in there too. Shows another dimension to the Jedi for sure.

I think Ahsoka dealing with that whole attack and being blamed for it made her sympathize with Barriss.

  25. Why do people go dark? That makes for great stories (or stories I hate).

  26. I never watched the Clone Wars. Sadly, Jar Jar pretty near ruined Star Wars for me. Bariss definitely looks like a kick butt character though!
