Barriss Offee |
Barriss Offee had the ability to use floating meditation, which looks kind of cool. She's also a skilled Jedi healer with very strong telekinesis abilities. She and her master held up an entire cave roof that was collapsing long enough for Yoda to arrive to rescue them. The Jedi-pedia says that Offee can force choke someone to death without even being in the same room or being able to see them. Even Vader couldn't do that.
I was really surprised that Barriss Offee turned to the dark side in the last episode of the series. And I'll probably always want to know what Luminara Unduli would have to say about that. Below is the speech that Barriss gave to the Jedi Order shortly before she was sentenced for the terrorist attack on the Jedi Temple.
To answer your question in the comment you'd left on my blog...No, I haven't seen Black Swan yet, but it just so happens that I ordered it on Amazon recently.
ReplyDeleteIf I were to see the movie you mentioned here, I wonder if Barriss Offee's fall is something that is foreshadowed. I don't know if people ever turn evil overnight.
Oh, man, I didn't want to know that!
ReplyDeleteAm I not going to be able to read these posts?
Great quote you posted, she seems like an interesting character. I like her diamond-shaped freckles and that she can force choke someone in a different room. Nice. Wish I had watched the series...maybe after I catch up on Supernatural...
ReplyDeleteBut is she the master or the apprentice?!?
ReplyDeletePadawan to lumanara
DeleteI'm a Star Wars fan. Sadly though, I've never been able to immerse myself more in the universe because I know it's MASSIVE.
ReplyDeleteSeductive very is the dark side.
ReplyDeleteThe dark side seems to get the best of them in some way, only Luke seems not tempted!
ReplyDeleteAnd another Jedi falls...
ReplyDeleteVery interesting - I knew nothing of her.

I didn't like how Barriss set up her friend but I've always thought the Jedi Council were corrupt and in many ways no better than Sith. They just wrapped it in the guise of honor.
ReplyDeleteI do like how the Clone Wars introduced gray to the black and white world of Lucas' vision. Nothing is ever that simple and it is a shame we will never see the series play out.
B is for...pleh.
ReplyDeletedon't remember her in episode 2
ReplyDeleteI wish I could do Jedi mind tricks...
ReplyDeleteWhat a venomous speech. It was too bad she turned. My nephews were all disappointed as they liked her.
ReplyDeleteShe sounds badass!
ReplyDeleteInteresting! I didn't know that, but then, I haven't followed the Clone Wars. She has cool powers! And cool powers are always . . . cool. :)
ReplyDeleteWow those are strong words. I love the Clone Wars! Great theme!
ReplyDeleteI've never seen this, but she sounds like a kick ass character that I would love.
ReplyDeleteI love the picture for Barriss Offee.... a mean machine facial expression...
ReplyDeleteHey, Mike,
ReplyDeleteBarriss looks like one serious female.
Absolutely love the top pic, she looks like such a badass.
ReplyDeleteThat's something I'd love to see in the new movie... female Jedi.
ReplyDeleteBa Ba Bammm! Such a great character!

It seems they always have a reason for going to the dark side.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty clueless when it comes to Star Wars stuff.
ReplyDeleteInteresting speech. She sounds like a character with impressive powers!
ReplyDeleteThat was a gut-wrenching speech she gave. And there's some truth in there too. Shows another dimension to the Jedi for sure.
ReplyDeleteI think Ahsoka dealing with that whole attack and being blamed for it made her sympathize with Barriss.
Her little speech convinced me.
ReplyDeleteWhy do people go dark? That makes for great stories (or stories I hate).
ReplyDeleteI never watched the Clone Wars. Sadly, Jar Jar pretty near ruined Star Wars for me. Bariss definitely looks like a kick butt character though!
ReplyDeleteMy kids are huge fans. Of course, so am I. :)
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the dark side...I've always liked it here. :)
ReplyDeleteMy grandson will be so fascinated with this lady.
ReplyDeleteSuper fun theme, my nephew is all over this stuff!
