I have been tagged by Lisa Shafer for the Lucky 7 Meme. Please visit her blog if you have the time by clicking HERE.
HERE ARE THE RULES:

2. Go to line 7.
3. Copy down the next 7 lines - sentences or paragraphs - and post them as they're written. No cheating.

5. Let them know.

Dustin scrambled down from his perch on the bleacher row just ahead of where Jordan and Jess sat. “Hope you’ve got a condom,” he said. “You’re so getting laid tonight.”This excerpt is from SLIPSTEAM and at a point where Jordan (the main character) is behaving particularly shallow. He grows up quite a bit during the story.
He just shot him a sideways glance, “We’re not even dating.”
“It doesn’t look that way from where I’m sitting but…okay.” Jordan got up and walked with him out of the stadium to wait for the ladies a little closer to the restrooms.

Nicely done - it's a coincidence that the sex talk lies where the meme points - a good way to grab your attention :)
ReplyDeleteI thought the rules might make pulling out sentences too random. Actually, it feels like you have a complete mini-scene here.
ReplyDeleteAnd I've dodged another tagging bullet...
ReplyDeleteI don't have a page 77 of my current manuscript, so there. Hooray for laziness!
ReplyDeleteYup, still want to read it.
ReplyDeleteWHOA!Helluva place to end.
ReplyDeleteThat was a revealing little scene. Fun.
ReplyDeleteHuh. That's a fun little meme. It's different than most the other ones floating around
ReplyDeleteIf this random selection from your manuscript is any indication, you have a great story on your hands.
ReplyDeleteYay for your characters being concerned about safe sex. ;)
ReplyDeleteAwesome sneak peak into your book, Michael. And I appreciate that you didn't tag me. I can't do with a fourth. Haven't even taken it up yet.
ReplyDeleteHmmmm... so I am supposed to do this despite the fact that you are boycotting my Star Wars Blogathon, which I am increasingly pitching directly at you to get that Offutt bump?
ReplyDeleteI'm going to do this, and I'm going to do it with an as-yet-unpublished book I've been working on for years and years and years. But it'll be tomorrow. I will let you know. But I have to do it; I dare not cross the Force of Nature that is Offutt, Lord of the Bloggers.
In the meantime: More "Slipstream" teasers! That book needs to come out NOW. Each glimpse of it gives me more reason to think it'll be great.
I have the same thing to do. I'll post it later today or tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteThis was nice.
That's a great idea. I like the number 7 so I thought this one was extra cool. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm back from NYC and making the rounds.
Awww, you didn't tag me. Now I have nothing to blog about. :p
ReplyDeleteFun meme. Funny excerpt. :D
ReplyDeleteBtw, I wrote a pretty great comment on Friday's post too, but blogger hates my guts and it didn't take. I'm too lazy to write it again. *shrugs*
So much character reveal in so few lines! Now that's sharp writing.
ReplyDeleteI checked the 7/7/7 rule in The Compass Master and it just ended up partway through a paragraph and the beginning of another, but at least it deals with the death of a character. The more interesting stuff is just a few lines later.
Thanks for meme-ing me!
ReplyDeleteI posted a little blurb, but then I cheated and linked back to the same authors you did. :-)
I'm looking forward to seeing what their blurbs are!

Ha! Believable dialogue. I liked the snippet. I'm so glad you didn't tag me!
ReplyDeleteGood character moment there. Looking forward to the day when it finally hits the bookshelves.
ReplyDeleteNice little tidbit. I'm seeing this meme everywhere today.
ReplyDeleteThat made me chuckle... so typical of young guys... good excerpt.
