Dear Munk Davis Oh How I Miss You

Today is the Oh, How I Miss You blogfest hosted by Andrew Leon, Alex J. Cavanaugh, and Matthew MacNish.

The bloggers we really miss…
and the ones we would really miss!
Do you have a couple blogger buddies who aren’t posting as often? Those who’ve pulled back and seem absent from the blogging world? Do you have blogger buddies you are grateful they are still around and would miss if they vanished? Now is your chance to show your appreciation and spotlight them!
On November 16, list one to three bloggers you really miss and one to three bloggers you would miss if they stopped blogging. Then go leave a comment on those blogs.
Our blogger friends are special – time to let them know!
Okay then! With that in mind, I want to say that I miss Munk Davis. You can find his blog HERE. I don't remember how I found Munk, but I instantly liked his avatar with the cooky hat that he wore and the fact that he was a chemical engineer. I took three years of chemical engineering before I went into something else. I feel like I have a kinship with this Oregonian, even though we've never met.

And he has an astounding sense of humor. It really shines through in his writing (which I got to beta-read). I hope he gets busy and publishes the thing. "Booker" is such an unusual name.

As for bloggers I would miss, there are so many. So I'm just going to say all of you. I would miss all of you...every...single...one. And I hope you continue to be a part of the online community.

Cheers to the three men above who came up with this blogfest.

Have a great weekend.

  1. Have a great weekend Mike. From his name Munk sounds like someone I could miss. And I am a chemical engineering graduate but don't ask me what I learned in college! :)

    PS I've got to learn how to include a link in comment. I've written two post since I Miss You. Can you help if you know. Thanks Mike.

  3. People do seem to disappear without warning on the internet. I guess real life intervenes sometimes.

  4. I'm glad you mentioned Munk Davis because he popped up on my GFC a while back and when I went to check out his blog and follow back, I saw he was taking a long sabbatical. I was actually bummed because even though I never got the chance to interact with him, reading some of his old posts I thought this would be someone I'd enjoy following.

  5. Following from the blogfest. Wish I had taken the easy way out of the ones I would miss as picking only 3 left way too many off. Oh well.

  6. I said all of you as well.
    And then I did select three to go along with the three I'd miss.
    Thanks for participating in our blogfest!

  7. I haven't run across Munk yet. An outstanding sense of humor is one reason why I like you so much!

  8. Hey Michael, if I haven't said it before .... I like your header! But, yes you would be missed too!

  9. I have a LONG list of bloggers that I miss. It was tough to narrow it down to three.

    I will check out Mr. Munk's site.

  10. I know! I shake my fist at Munk! He used to crack me up. And I have noticed probably half the people I follow no longer blog on a regular basis anymore. People come and go so quickly around here.

  11. You're so diplomatic, Michael. BTW, I love how is says "Club Awesome" above your list of followers. That is...awesome!

    ReplyDelete
  12. Your post reminds me how easy it is to connect with someone through social media even though you never meet in person. I would miss you too.

  13. Isn't something how we start at one place (blog) and then cycle away from it. This is a good idea for a blogfest.

    ReplyDelete
  14. You would certainly be missed by many, me included. Do not go anywhere, ya hear!

    ReplyDelete
  15. I would miss everyone as well. Impossible to narrow it down!

  16. Hi Michael .. I decided I had to go for it - rightly or wrongly .. for better of for worse blogsphered I suppose .. and most bloggers are just great, such fun and so helpful .. your Munk sounds fun ... sad he's not there for you now - but he's only on sabbatical .. perhaps we'll see him soon ..

    Cheers for now - Hilary

  17. Lisa: I got the link in the comment below. Are you asking on how to make one less obtrusive with all that http stuff? There might be an option to do so before you post. I haven't checked.

    @Mark: Indeed sir!

    @Moody: Either that or their brains are empty with regard to blogging. I think that blogging honestly suits people who "B.S." their way through life (which kind of describes me perfectly). I can talk about anything.

    @Elise: Google Friend Connect! Took me a while to figure out GFC. I especially enjoy teasing Munk.

    @Rhonda: I know. I take the easy way out on a lot of stuff. So sue me. LOL I'll hit you back with a follow as soon as I comment.

    @Alex: You're welcome, rock star!

    @Brinda: OH thank you.

    @C.M.: Oh thanks for complimenting my header. I think it looks smashing myself.

    @Jay: I could narrow it down to three hundred.

    @L.G.: Yeah. The whole "sabattical" thing is such a cop out and he knows it.

    @Susan: I strive to be clever in all things.

    @Susan: Oh thank you *hugs

    @Laura: It wasn't my idea. The three dudes above came up with it. They're kind of a collective brain trust like the Borg.

    @Faraway: Awh thank you. I shall wave at you from Idaho Falls when visiting parents next week.

    @Laura: Agreed!

    @Hilary: Cheers indeed! That's so European.

  18. I'll make a note to drop by and check out his site... after I get back, hopefully, with a new computer.

    I was majoring in chemistry for my BS before I decided I didn't feel like staying in school anymore and left with just my BAs.

  19. This really was a brilliant blogfest, and yet picking just who to highlight was super hard - mostly cause i know so many super people. Thanks for introducing Munk! :)

    Thanks for your honesty. It's rare in these parts.

    And, I am glad you like my place. I feel honored from your praise.

    You have a great weekend too.

    Doing anything fun? Hooking up with a hot stranger? LOL.

  27. Munk sounds like a great guy. I will definitely have to visit him.

    AHS Lovedwhat happened with Quinto. I KNEW he was much more than just a poor psychiatrist trying to help the loons in the bin. I think reporter girl will survive, too. You're right someone did shutdown Briarcliff. And that poor nympho. OMG when she crawled up those stairs andscared the kids Yikes!

  30. it's so hard to pick people to highlight, cause everyone is pretty awesome, aren't they? :)

    ReplyDelete
  31. That's the thing about the Internet. It's so easy to just stop blogging one day and not start back up.

  32. Hi Michael,

    Although I have been discreetly contacting bloggers who have been in the background for varying reasons, for many years, I greatly admire the ideals of this blogfest and your bringing awareness of the blogging buddy you miss.

    Long may the sharing, caring ethos of the blogging community, shine on.

    Cheers, Michael and have a peaceful weekend.

    Gary

  37. So many bloggers have disappeared and even more would be missed if they went away. :)

    ReplyDelete
  38. Thanks for introducing your fave blogger ... and I wish I'd broken the rules about naming just 3 bloggers!

    ReplyDelete
  39. i'm so sad about so many great bloggers i may never meet!
    it's a bittersweet blogfest!

    glad i know you, tho!

  40. Interesting theme for a blogfest. Bloggers come and go, that's for sure. I look back at posts from when I first started in '09, and where are these people now? Living real lives? Oh... =]

    ReplyDelete
  41. I miss Munk as well! We used to bounce back and forth to each others blogs regularly.

    ReplyDelete
  42. You're not allowed to go on sabbatical. There I said it. Great tribute to Munk. Hope you've had a great weekend!

    ReplyDelete
  43. I miss Munk too. He does tweet though, so people could check him out there.

    ReplyDelete
  44. The idea of having to choose only 3 bloggers I would miss is what stopped me from doing this blogfest ;) But I coulda cheated like you and been fine, I guess :P

    I haven't heard of Munk prior to this, but it sure does suck when favourite bloggers stop blogging!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Aw, we'd miss you too! Don't know Munk but I'll check it out! :)

    ReplyDelete
  46. Very nice! It would be sad to lose our blogging friends wouldn't it? though we've never even met most of them, our lives would still be a bit less bright. I know I brighten up when I read your posts, see you've commented... Cheers Michael!

  47. Holy Cats!

    My wife was out googling my name today and found this blog entry. What a fantastic surprise, even if I am 4-months late to the festivities it sparks my heart that a few people felt inspired to call me out.
    Thanks Michael, I can say that I am well, extraordinarily busy with family and work, and spend my free time finishing the trilogy.
    Life and writing just don't offer the time for me to be blogging (for now). Sincerely, Munk.
