I really love this Black Panther concept art.

I found these pictures over at io9, and I really needed to share them because they are so beautiful. As someone who does drawing, I super duper admire artists that can just take a vision and run with it so completely (and so quickly). I'm slow at producing art. I've been working on one picture for months (admittedly on and off) and it just blows my mind at how someone can do all of this detail for a concept! I mean these aren't actual art pieces but meant to guide those who are putting a film together! Anyways, check them out below:
This piece is by artist Till Nowak and is called "Steptown"
This piece is by artist Drew Leung. It is called "Shuri's Lab."
"Palace Throne Room" by Till Nowak. He did the first piece above as well.
Adi Granov, the comics artist, did this one for some warriors of Wakanda.
The film opens the week of Valentine's day. I guess that's Marvel's way of throwing some love our way.

  1. Some amazing skills there.
    Three more weeks!

  2. I can't wait for this movie. I never read Black Panther as a kid but really started to get into his story about five years ago. I'm anxious yet hopeful this movie is going to do well. With the current political climate in the US, you know the outrage police on both sides will be looking to tear it apart.

Given all the hype, It wouldn't surprise me if we see negative comments that the character is named for a terrorist organization even though the comic predates it. I'm really looking forward to seeing how they portray Shuri and the Dora Milaje. Hopefully they are seen as powerful and not subservient. I really want this to be good.

I do love how they are releasing it on Valentine's weekend. With the success of 50 Shade of Gray and Deadpool on prior Valentines, it seems the studios are really seeing the potential of the fact more couples want to go out that weekend.

  3. I can't remember if they posted these on The Geek Twins yet already. I hope the movie does well since it's really the first major black superhero movie, just like Wonder Woman was the first major female superhero movie last year.

  4. They are really nice. I'd hang them in my office.
