MTV looks like they spared no expense on the Shannara Chronicles that is set to begin in January 2016
Last week at SDCC, MTV aired its first trailer for the Shannara chronicles that starts up in January 2016. I gotta say, from the looks of things they spared no expense. I'll be watching it for sure. Thoughts on the trailer anyone?
They did prove our doubts wrong at least judging from the stunning trailer! I still don't know why they chosen that froggy looking kid for the lead role... but the rest of the cast is rather stunning indeed!
I also like the fact that the story has a beginning and end. That way a new one will take place with new cast members every season. So if we don't like who gets cast, we're not stuck with them forever.
I suppose, but I don't think a channel of all music videos would even be profitable these days with the internet. Are you suggesting they need to change their name? I can't blame them for an evolving business model where they have to create their own content to survive.
Even in high school, I never thought of Shannara as anything more than a rip off of other, better fantasy series and never read more than the original trilogy. I'm sure I'll watch these, but I'd much rather someone do the Belgariad.
Shannara looks great but the show that really caught my attention was AMCs Into the Badlands. You can find the trailer at https://youtu.be/5KyHy4KRvIc and I thought of you when I saw it as it looks like something you'd love.
It amazes me how good the production values look on TV these days. I keep expecting the bubble to burst but it is getting to the point where there's almost too many good shows to actually watch them all.
This trailer was gorgeous. I've heard of the series but never read them, but now I understand why people are reading fewer books than ever--because there are so many damn good TV shows now!
Sigh. And I'm just starting to catch up on Game of Thrones.
They damn well better spend the money and do it right. I've waited decades ti see Shannara come to life.
ReplyDeleteThe trailer looks interesting even though it seems to jump from one thing to another.
ReplyDeleteMakes me want to re-read the books again. I hope this series is well done, and doesn't leave out all the fantastic magic in favor of angsty romance.

Hell YES! I would love to see a five season series of the Belgariad!
DeleteI wish blogger had a way to "like" comments, because I would "like" yours. Three or four times. Or five.
DeleteLooks like a compelling saga. The production values look good.

Okay I guess I can't wait until fall now. This is going right on the "MUST WATCH" list. Thanks, Kevin!
DeleteI was surprised to hear about this series on MTV. Interesting choice of network. But cool it's finally coming to TV. Hopefully they do it right.
