Happy after Halloween. Hopefully, you will get to experience some Thanksgiving before the onslaught of commercial Christmas. However, I live in Utah so everything is now Christmas no matter where I go. Truthfully, it's been that way for a month. I was surprised because I thought that Halloween had grown big enough to build a kind of dam against Christmas encroachment, but I was wrong. I wonder how long it will be before I see Christmas things during the 4th of July.
November always feels kind of like a drawing down of things to me. So, I think this will be my last post until January 2027's Insecure Writer's Support Group post. That being said, we still have this month to cover. But first, I think I'll go over some of the basics of the IWSG and point out where you can sign up for it HERE at this website.
What is the purpose of the IWSG?: It's to share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds (and it was designed to be this way by Alex J. Cavanaugh).
When is the posting day? It's the first Wednesday of every month. This is officially Insecure Writer’s Support Group day. Post your thoughts on your own blog. Talk about your doubts and the fears you have conquered. Discuss your struggles and triumphs. Offer a word of encouragement for others who are struggling. Visit others in the group and connect with your fellow writer - aim for a dozen new people each time - and return comments. This group is all about connecting.

What advice do you have? Be sure to link to this page and display the badge in your post, and please be sure your avatar links back to your blog! Otherwise, when you leave a comment, people can't find you to comment back.
Social Media: The IWSG uses "X" which used to be called "Twitter." The Twitter handle is @TheIWSG and hashtag is #IWSG.
The awesome co-hosts for the November 4th posting of the IWSG are Kalpana, Kim Lajevardi, Rebecca Douglass, Jennifer Lane, and Cathrina Constantine!
Now, every month, the IWSG announces a question that members can answer in their IWSG post. These questions may prompt you to share advice, insight, a personal experience or story. But, remember, the question is optional.

November 4 question - As a writer, do you have favorite themes that you like to explore in your stories? If so, what are they?
I love to explore mysteries and have them unravel bit by bit. Now, I'm not a mystery writer by genre. But instead, I'll have like a murder take place and for there to be clues that characters follow-up on and that lead them into dangerous situations. I find those kinds of things to be a really compelling reason to keep reading. So it's kind of "investigative adventuring" or something similar. I like my characters to unearth the unexpected and to see how they deal with that.
Anyway, thanks for stopping by, and I shall see you all again in January. Hopefully, the world doesn't change too much between now and then.

Investigative adventuring - you have created a new genre.
ReplyDeleteSee you in January!
