Sometimes I think that the world of "pretend" is so far away. Life becomes too complicated too fast. Maybe we should all just take a lesson from A Bug's Life and return to the world of "Pretend" often. I hear it's a source of great stories. :) Too much reality is a real downer anyway.
I shall be taking next week off. See you the second week of July and have a great Independence Day!
First?
ReplyDeleteAnyway, pretending is a lot easier when you're younger. Maybe it's because most kids have seen so little of the real world yet pretend is about all they have. Or maybe it's because they aren't so bitter and cynical yet.
ReplyDeleteOh, I pretend on a daily basis to keep my inner child on her toes.
ReplyDeleteTeresa
Have a great week off!
ReplyDeleteAnd i haven't watched Bug's Life in years. I clearly need to do a rewatch soon
Hope you have a great holiday and break, Michael. See you on the other side. :)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your week off!!
ReplyDeleteThat's great inspiration for summer with my kids. Lots of pretend time. Have a wonderful vacation.
ReplyDeleteAlways loved A Bug's Life. It's too bad it gets lost among all the great Pixar movies.
ReplyDeleteI like the pretend world. It doesn't have so many complications. But living in the real world, although sometimes difficult, is worth it. :D
ReplyDeleteI feel bad for people who have little or no imagination. Life loses a lot of its wonder when you can't add to it with a great imagination.
ReplyDeleteWriters spend a lot of time in pretend land. We're the smart ones. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteHey! We're taking the same week off.
ReplyDeleteI've been spending the last couple weeks in Pretend land. I highly recommend it. Have a great break. See you when you get back.
ReplyDeleteI love that movie
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your week off and have a happy 4th as well. (:
ReplyDeleteI'd like to pretend I have another week of vacation. :)
ReplyDeleteThat movie was very cute.
I'm 60 and I've never given up playing the "Pretend Game."
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful real vacation, Michael. Meanwhile, I'll pretend that I'm on one.
ReplyDeleteI have a preschooler. He decided the minute we woke up that we're kittens. So we are.
ReplyDeleteHave a great break.
Are you really going on vacation? Or just pretending? Which ever...have a great one.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a great break! Happy 4th of July.
ReplyDeleteAgreed! I LOVE Bug's Life! Wonderful show. :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great 4th of July!
Pretend is a very good place! have a nice blog break.
ReplyDeleteI love that scene. Have a great break!
ReplyDeleteThe land of pretend is a wonderful place to live!
ReplyDeleteHave a great time next week, whatever you do.
now i have to pull this movie out!
ReplyDeletepretend is dwindling, losing out to video games thinking for us. limit kids screen time! make them play!
That's what I do when I'm not at work; I pretend I'm in my story :)
ReplyDeleteHappy 4th and enjoy the time off. It goes way too fast! I should had the week off and am heading back to work Monday morning and I am sitting here wondering where the week went! Cheers!
ReplyDeleteHahaha I always loved that scene in A Bug's Life. Have a great independence day and see you when you're back.
ReplyDelete:-)
have a naughty break, Mikey dear, and do all the mischief that would make me proud...
ReplyDeleteI like to live in the world of Pretend, everyone's so nice... except the wolf, but we're hoping he'll snap out of his grumps soon and join the party.
ReplyDeleteAh, A Bug's Life. I remember that movie. I remember it well, in fact. As my sister watched it every day for pretty much a year when she was like five. -.- However, this was always one of my favorite parts.
ReplyDeleteAnd don't take this the wrong way, because I love reading your posts, but I'm actually really glad you're taking a week off. It makes it much easier for me to catch up on the ones you wrote the last two weeks. 0-0
You have a happy fourth of July Michael and a good vacation from blogging. Your blogs are fun to read.Yes imagination and "pretend" can be a great diversion.
ReplyDeleteReality? BOOO! Living in my head is much more fun than watching the nightly news.
ReplyDeleteI love to pretend. I do it in my mind all the time. The only time I don't like to pretend is when I'm in training and they make you do those 'scenario' role plays with someone who you've just met and is totally uncomfortable with playing make believe. Those moments are just awkward!
ReplyDeleteSee you next week! I should be back from my "survival practice" when you return. :)
ReplyDeleteTotally agree... I love pretending I'm far away from reality when I write:)
ReplyDeleteI like to pretend...maybe too much.
ReplyDeleteHave fun!
I'm fortunate to have my three kids, and I am able to dip my foot into the world of pretend all the time. It's all around me all the time. Very cool.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful break!
Enjoy your time off. I'll have limited internet next week, also. I hope you enjoy. Oh, btw, I love that scene from Bug's Life!
ReplyDeleteit is hard to pretend sometimes, what with life hammering you full force with its dose of reality. :)

Now I know why you want an Imagination Room, and, now, you know why I wrote about one.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your time off! :)
ReplyDeleteThat's a sweet, whimsical post. Thanks for the reminder to enter Pretendland frequently and often.
ReplyDeleteI'm visiting from the ISWG list on Alex's page. Hope you're enjoying your break.
Ohhhh... Michael, you need to be giving motivational speeches... Love this. You are beyond awesome, my friend. :D
ReplyDeleteThat's a great thing to remember. I just have to try and pretend a little less when I'm driving so I remained focused on the road. Have a great week away and happy 4th!
ReplyDeleteLOL. Cute.
ReplyDeleteHave a great break!
Hey Michael,
ReplyDeleteGood point and you could pretend that my comment isn't really real :)
I believe we have to reconnect with our 'inner child' and truly take in the beauty that flows from our creativity and the positivity all around us. All we need to do is look.
Excellent and here's hoping that you had a safe and peaceful 4th of July.
In kindness, Gary
I go to the world of pretend all the time :) Enjoy your vacation, Michael!
ReplyDeleteAww, that's a sweet way to help remember to pretend. Okay, that was an oddly convoluted sentence. But I like, every once in a while, lingering in a field or the woods and looking around, observing and imagining... We need more moments like that in our writers' lives!
ReplyDeleteHappy Independence Day yesterday!
ReplyDeleteI agree, we should stick to pretend. I think this is why I mostly love supernatural type stories. I like to fully escape from reality when I read.
I'm all for a little more imagination and a little less reality. I have enough rocks in my life. Need a few potential trees.
ReplyDeleteHope you had a wonderful Independence Day!
Thanks for visiting everyone!
ReplyDeleteI think that's why I like to write. I can create pretend worlds that are better and more fun than the real one. But probably not as fun as Pixar's worlds.
