Pretend

Sometimes I think that the world of "pretend" is so far away. Life becomes too complicated too fast. Maybe we should all just take a lesson from A Bug's Life and return to the world of "Pretend" often. I hear it's a source of great stories. :) Too much reality is a real downer anyway.

I shall be taking next week off. See you the second week of July and have a great Independence Day!

  1. Anyway, pretending is a lot easier when you're younger. Maybe it's because most kids have seen so little of the real world yet pretend is about all they have. Or maybe it's because they aren't so bitter and cynical yet.

  6. Always loved A Bug's Life. It's too bad it gets lost among all the great Pixar movies.

  7. I like the pretend world. It doesn't have so many complications. But living in the real world, although sometimes difficult, is worth it. :D

  8. I feel bad for people who have little or no imagination. Life loses a lot of its wonder when you can't add to it with a great imagination.

  9. Writers spend a lot of time in pretend land. We're the smart ones. Have fun!

  16. I have a preschooler. He decided the minute we woke up that we're kittens. So we are.

    Have a great break.

  28. I like to live in the world of Pretend, everyone's so nice... except the wolf, but we're hoping he'll snap out of his grumps soon and join the party.

  29. Ah, A Bug's Life. I remember that movie. I remember it well, in fact. As my sister watched it every day for pretty much a year when she was like five. -.- However, this was always one of my favorite parts.

And don't take this the wrong way, because I love reading your posts, but I'm actually really glad you're taking a week off. It makes it much easier for me to catch up on the ones you wrote the last two weeks. 0-0

  30. You have a happy fourth of July Michael and a good vacation from blogging. Your blogs are fun to read.Yes imagination and "pretend" can be a great diversion.

  31. Reality? BOOO! Living in my head is much more fun than watching the nightly news.

  32. I love to pretend. I do it in my mind all the time. The only time I don't like to pretend is when I'm in training and they make you do those 'scenario' role plays with someone who you've just met and is totally uncomfortable with playing make believe. Those moments are just awkward!

  33. See you next week! I should be back from my "survival practice" when you return. :)

  34. Totally agree... I love pretending I'm far away from reality when I write:)

  35. I like to pretend...maybe too much.

    Have fun!

  36. I'm fortunate to have my three kids, and I am able to dip my foot into the world of pretend all the time. It's all around me all the time. Very cool.

    Have a wonderful break!

  42. That's a great thing to remember. I just have to try and pretend a little less when I'm driving so I remained focused on the road. Have a great week away and happy 4th!

  43. LOL. Cute.

    Have a great break!

  44. Hey Michael,
Good point and you could pretend that my comment isn't really real :)
I believe we have to reconnect with our 'inner child' and truly take in the beauty that flows from our creativity and the positivity all around us. All we need to do is look.
Excellent and here's hoping that you had a safe and peaceful 4th of July.
    In kindness, Gary

  45. I go to the world of pretend all the time :) Enjoy your vacation, Michael!

  46. Aww, that's a sweet way to help remember to pretend. Okay, that was an oddly convoluted sentence. But I like, every once in a while, lingering in a field or the woods and looking around, observing and imagining... We need more moments like that in our writers' lives!

  47. Happy Independence Day yesterday!

I agree, we should stick to pretend. I think this is why I mostly love supernatural type stories. I like to fully escape from reality when I read.

  48. I'm all for a little more imagination and a little less reality. I have enough rocks in my life. Need a few potential trees.

Hope you had a wonderful Independence Day!

  49. I think that's why I like to write. I can create pretend worlds that are better and more fun than the real one. But probably not as fun as Pixar's worlds.
