Stephen King's second tweet basically sums up all the #FAIL of twitter

Stephen King's second tweet basically sums up all the #FAIL of twitter. How on earth this social network is worth $40 billion and yet can't turn a profit is something I'll never be able to understand.
I think every single one of us has felt this at some point unless of course you're on twitter to spam people to read your blog or to buy your book. I think with this single tweet, Stephen King finally earned me as a fan because having something worthy to say is where nearly all of us fall short.

  1. That is funny! Yeah, half the time, I don't know what to say.

  2. Well if you can't think of anything to say just don't say anything. I don't find it that hard. Just complain about whatever sporting event or major news story is going on or whoever's giving you crap in the real world. But King is a huge technophobe these days so I guess this isn't a surprise.

  3. You mean you DON'T want to know what I ate for breakfast? Or lunch? What about dinner? It could be entertaining...or not. ;)

I find myself mostly retweeting something somebody else said.

  4. This cracks me up. So I'm not alone in not being able to think of a single thing to say. I suck at Twitter and can't really figure out why it is so popular.

  5. @Patrick: So you think that Twitter is exclusively for complaining? Nice. I guess I'll have to get my "bitch" hat on.

  6. People tell me I should Tweet but I don't have anything all that important to say, and if I did I'd discuss it on my blog. I really think social media is destroying our language.

  8. Twitter's for plugging stuff, bitching, and yapping with your friends. What else can you do in 140 characters? And yes I think it's hugely overvalued. You'd think after 1999-2000 people would learn but then when do people learn from history? They're probably thinking, no this tech bubble won't burst like the last one did.

  9. Apparently that comment was 184 characters too long for Twitter. I guess I'd have needed 3 Tweets to make the same point.

  10. My Twitter Feed has become book SPAM. Quite annoying. When I do tweet something, I usually get a good response because it's something that's not SPAM.

    Pretty sad.

  11. It's so nice to know even Stephen King feels that way on occasion!

  12. I think to use Twitter effectively you need ADHD or crack. That's my story and I'm sticking with it.

  13. Twitter/Tweet is a total waste one's time and intelligence. If that is just another thing that engages someone's busy life, then that person needs to re-examine priorities.

  14. I do what River does quite often. I rarely find anything worth tweeting about. Or willing to put on twitter if you get my drift.

  15. King went to twitter before me... interesting.

  16. I love that the first person he followed was his son. I think I know who talked him into getting on Twitter. :)

  17. I was happy to see Mr. King join the twittervers. I adore twitter. I just talk to people.

  18. I loved that Tweet.

And if I can't think of anything to 'tweet', I don't tweet anything.

  19. *LOL* Hilarious! I like him even more now.

  20. That's half my Twitter feed right there. Or it would be. If I didn't delete it and just not post anything nearly every time.

  21. HAHA. Yeah, when I first got on Twitter, that's the kind of thing I said as well. Now I just post for people's blog hops and very rarely say hi to Billy Corgan :P

  22. The only comfort in having nothing to say is to notice that hardly anyone else does either.

  23. There's a comic who's pretty good at Tweeting or Twittering- whatever. He reads his tweets out loud during his show. They are pretty funny. If you can do that then I think you've mastered Twitter but most of us aren't at good in that short of a time span. I've had a couple of good tweets but mostly I think it's good for the news links- sometimes. And then I have to have the time.

  25. In the time it would take me to think up one really good twitter, Stephen King could write another novel. I am so not a twitterer.

  27. Still not comfortable sending out random thoughts into the ether. Seems a bit pointless.
