The Cold Winds Are Rising

In case you missed it, HBO released the teaser for season 2 of Game of Thrones.  Oooh it has me so excited. We are only four months away from more of the White Walkers!
And yes for those of you that read the books like me, that is the voice of none other than Stannis Baratheon providing the voice over. Rather chilling, don't you think?

Have a great Monday.

  2. HBO has produced some great series and this is one of them. I'm sure it will be as good as season one. BTW, I haven't read the books. I started book one on audio during my commute and got confused with all the characters. The show started then, so I quit listening to the book. Your thoughts on the books compared to the series?

  3. Four months? Damn! I hope I can get HBO where'll I'll be living in Mexico. I LOve Game of Thrones. During the first season, I kept gasping at all the people they killed off.

  4. That is exactly how I heard the voice of Stannis in my head as I read the books. Still waiting for the DVD release of Season 1... they don't release those things in a hurry, do they?

  5. Can' put the books down. A bit concerned to see the Series. Not so sure I'm up for all the blood/brutality/sex on the screen, even if it is the small screen and yet...

  6. I have to get around to the book sometime this winter.

  7. yeah i saw that a few weeks ago and got super excited. I've been putting off reading the second book for a while though. I don't know why. It's weird because i'd read the first book before the HBO series was even announced and i liked it a lot. I don't know why i haven't read the others yet.

  8. I don't have cable, so I still haven't seen the first season. Yes, I am the lamest person in America.

  9. Yay! I can't wait. I'm halfway through A Dance With Dragons. It is killing me the way he split up the plot threads though.

  10. We don't have HBO, so I've not been following the series. Did have it free for three months and what I saw was really good.

  11. I've never been able to muster up much interest in these books. I don't know why. But at the Dollar Store, there is a collection of stories edited by George R. R. Martin and I keep thinking I should buy that and mail it to you, on the theory that if you like his writing, you might like other people's stories he edited. That and it's just a buck.

So should I? Let me know. It's not like you'd owe me anything back.

  12. Briane, is there much point to buying a book for a dollar and then spending $4 to mail it?

  13. I have not seen that series but it does look interesting.

  14. @Briane: I'm not so interested in those because it's George's "shared world" thing that he's been doing for twenty years.

  21. After struggling my way through the 4th book I've given up trying to read the 5th. There's a good story somewhere in there but I just couldn't take it anymore. Martin's books remind me of Seinfeld in that on most pages it's a book about nothing only it doesn't have any redeeming value. It feels like a marathon and only after you've read a few hundred pages does he reward you by moving the plot forward.

I'm glad HBO is making this series as I'm sure their editors will make needed changes to the story. They can't afford to let the story drag or it won't make it past the 2nd season.

  22. I know plenty of folks who will be talking about this show (although I am not a Martin reader or watcher) when it airs. And I don't have time for another show- I barely caught up on The Walking Dead. (What did you think of the season ender?!?!?)

  23. Yeah it is pretty chilling in an awesome way. ^_^

  24. From the POV of someone who doesn't know what Game of Thrones is (gasp), that's a terrible trailer.

I could, however, have used that voiceover during negotiations for my late grandmother's coffee table.
