Goodbye House. I shall miss you.

Happy Tuesday. Today I'm making a stop over at super editor Cherie Reich's blog.  Please follow me there :).
Goodbye you guys. Your show was amazing.
I'm a little sad today, because I just watched the second to last episode of House that there ever will be. The series ends next week in a 2-hour series finale. I've spent a lot of time with these characters. Dr. Chase is gone. Dr. Cuddy is gone. Foreman is Director of Princeton Plainsborough, and House is going back to prison to serve out the rest of his sentence for sabotaging the MRI machine. The only problem is, Wilson has five months to live. Cancer is killing him and House is his best friend and vice-versa.

My heart kind of breaks for House and Wilson. Dr. Cameron...gone. Thirteen...well she's got a terminal disease too. Wilson's only love, Amber, nicknamed Cutthroat Bitch...she's long dead. So many relationships started and failed. The only one that lasted was between Wilson and House--two men that seemed oddly suited to each other's company.

House is a show that I really loved to watch.
Goodbye Gregory House.
Goodbye Wilson.
Goodbye Foreman, Chase, Cuddy, Park, Thirteen...man, you guys told a great story.

House saved so many people, so many lives, with his sheer brilliance.

And now he won't even see his best friend die.

What kind of ending is that? In case you're wondering if the writers might not go there, the title of the  Series Finale next week is "Everyone Dies".

Ugh. That just sucks. I guess that's how a person should feel when the writing is just that good, and it comes to an end.

  1. I think I watched about 2 minutes of that show in the entire however long it was on.

  2. I'm glad to have you on my blog, Mike! (P.S. you're actually at my author blog: http://cheriereich.blogspot.com/2012/05/fantasy-chat-interview-with-michael.html. But I have a teaser and a link to the interview on my Surrounded by Books blog).

And I used to love watching House, but then the last season or two I just stopped watching. I'm not quite sure why, but it just didn't seem the same show that I loved.

  3. House is totally one of my top 5 FAV shows EVER. Gosh, I'm soooooo sad it's ending! He's just so... cool. It's all about the cane. ;)

  4. That used to be one of my favorite shows, but it's waned over the past two seasons. You're right - all the great characters are gone. Guess I need to watch the last episode. Think I was watching Eureka last night instead.
And already visited Cherie's site earlier.

  5. I've seen every episode of House. Watching it with my husband is kind of a Monday night tradition. I know it has to end eventually, just like every other show, but it's still kind of sad when it happens.

  6. Gah! I have no idea how they're going to handle this. How I'm going to handle this. If they end it as depressing as they've built it up to be, I'm going to be very...depressed. I'm going to miss this show.

  7. I've been hooked on the British version of house (Doc Martin), and the last season of that will be out in June to buy. I'm going to be very sad to see it go, as well.

  8. I've watched the show and I'll definitely watch the finale next week, but I'm a House and Wilson fan and House and Wilson fan only. I've never been much of a fan of the rest of the team.

  9. Quit making me cry over here. I'm going to miss it too :(

  10. I never could get into House. Every episode had the same exact plot. Except when he got trapped beneath a building. That was pretty awesome.

  11. I always loved House, but fell off from watching it the past couple of years (I haven't watched any sitcoms lately...I miss them, but one tv with 5 family members doesn't allow for everyone getting to watch their own shows, which is a big stinker). Gregory House was one of my favorites.

  12. oh, this reminds me that me has forgotten to see what happened in DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES show finale!
How shall I live now without my Bree Van Dee Kamp?

  13. I sometimes watched "House" to see what diseases I'd imagine I had the next day. It was way better for hypochondriacs/medical mysteries like me than "Scrubs" or "ER."

But: Procedurals! They all work the same way! People solve things by accident. As I said on my blog once:

"All those things seem hard, but they're just make-work for television detectives until the breakthrough comes, about 40 minutes into the investigation. The breakthrough, on every detective show I've ever watched, happens exactly the same way: The detective (police or independent investigator) is doing something completely unrelated to the investigation -- playing ping pong or looking down Cutty's blouse or hiding a cat -- and someone says something that solves the crime."

Yep. I'm plugging my blog. But since I gave a shout-out to "Slipstream" on Nonsportsmanlike Conduct! today, you'll have to allow it. LOOPHOLE!

  14. I love House. It is sad to see it go.

  15. I had no idea this show was ending. Granted, I haven't watched the last couple of seasons, but still. This means I'll have to savor what I haven't seen yet.

  16. Goodbye, Moon?

    Never seen House...
But I'm sorry for your sadness.

  17. At least the fans of House get an ending. Many series are simply given the ax and the fans left wondering what the heck happened.

  18. Michael, I had to skip through your post. House is such a great show. But we don't have TV stations, so we watch it on a delay through Netflix. Wasn't sure if you included any spoilers. I think the writers (and Hugh Laurie) created an incredible character in Greg House.
Okay...now I'm off to check out Cherie's blog. Have a good one!

  19. This is one of those shows, like West Wing, that I'm pretty sure I would love, but I haven't seen.

  20. Everyone dies? Wow, I guess that's one way to make sure a series can never come back.

  21. I DVR'd the last 8 episodes of House and did not watch them, and then I watched last nights episode, now I am going back to catch up!
I missed Cuddy's leaving. I did not know Cut throat bitch died?! OH YEAH I DID.. THE BUS! I remember..That sucked. I cried. Next week we will be weeping like babies I bet!
House CANNOT go back to jail for the last 6 months of Wilsons life. No flippin way. BUT it seems so poetic..so HOUSE.
I actually screamed "NO F'ing SHIT" when they sht hit the fan at the end there last night.
I was stoked to see my gurl 13 back, they need to bring Cam & Chase back. No, I guess they dont. How the heck do they fit em in?
I liked what House did to Wilson to get him to go back on Chemo..That was pretty slick and tear jerking then to find out it was BS..lolz..

BTW your book looks AWESOME! I just read a review on another blog and was like WHOA.

    My Teaser Tuesday

  23. I've only caught the show once in a while, but if it's ending I'll want to see the final story. Hugh Laurie is so brilliant I can't help but root for him.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I have never watched House, not a single episode. But my children love it to the point the younger one dresses like him at times and carries the stick.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I watched up until this season. I'd had enough. But I'll tune in for the finale next week.

    ReplyDelete
  26. You said everything that was going through my head.

    Ditto.
I got into House a little late, around 2008. But I caught up fast.

Somewhere along in that season and the next, the series was a bit dicey, but they pulled it out.

This year, and especially these last episodes, have been stupendous. Why hasn't this show and Hugh Laurie won a ton of Emmys?

    ReplyDelete
  27. I LOVED this show the first three years. Since? Not so much. But I'll be tuning in next week to watch the finale for sure. Thanks for catching me up.

  28. I love Hugh Laurie but I can't watch this show consecutively. I get tired of House's last minute saves. It's really about American television not a criticism of Hugh Laurie AT ALL. Just that American "Here I come to save the day" attitude that occurs whether it's a doctor or a investigator or a cop show... I'm tired of it. That's part of why I like Madmen. No heroes. Only guys who act like real men and sometimes they are really ugly but they are real.

  29. I never got into that show; but I know how you feel about it - I felt the same with the series ER.

I love getting stuck on a series. Sadly, all the ones I watch now are off for the summer. boohoo.

    .....dhole

  30. Don't hate me, but I never got into House. I don't know why, there was nothing wrong with the show. I think it has more to do with having such little spare time to watch TV. I tend to watch things like Game of Thrones, sci-fi shows, and I love The Finder. Not sure why, I think he's sexy. :)
I'm off to your post. Have a great hump day.

  31. Hard to believe the show's been on for 8 years. I loved watching it, and trying to figure out what's wrong. I would do a happy dance when a few of my guesses ending up being correct.

But the last season or two were a little weaker, but still much better than other shows on TV.

It always freaks me out when I hear Hugh Laurie with his British accent.

  32. I, too, am going to miss it. I think this season kind of dropped off in its excellence, but stil, i kept watching it. Sigh. So many of my shows are ending

    ReplyDelete
  33. So, I've been out of town and am behind on episodes. After reading a few things I did not know about I jumped to the comments-just in case you loaded your post with more spoilers...*squinty eyes*

    ReplyDelete
  34. I'm sure House will get out of going to jail somehow and be with Wilson through til the end. That is just a guess. I loved House until he started acting too crazy for me, but I kept watching. It was a terrific show.

  35. There are so many House fans here in the UK, I fear there will be a cloak of sadness over the land when we catch up.

    ReplyDelete
  36. House was a good show, but I haven't watched it for a couple of seasons, I lost interest when the original characters left, but I have it recorded to catch it up some time in the future. It will be a show which will be missed by many!
