  1. That line of thought applies to a lot of things. If it's not of value, how do you tell someone?

  2. Thomas Paine wrote something that seems to apply here:

Arguing with someone immune to logic is like giving medicine to a dead person.

  4. I don't trust him. The guy looks like he's from Weyland Corp...

  5. Well, sure, that's the makeup of water from a scientific/chemical standpoint. One could also look at water through a poetic prism, or from a thirsty wanderer's POV as something they very much need to drink.

  6. He reminds me of whatshisname... The guy who played as the bad guy's son in the Austin Powers movies. I've read Sam Harris, he gets a bit new agey there towards the end of The End of Faith himself.

  7. If faith can encourage thought, can evidence validate it?

I guess in my line of thinking even if I can't scientifically support something, it doesn't mean it can't exist or happen. Maybe we don't yet understand or see the science behind it?

Discovery is at the heart of all of it, no matter which road I go down. Sorry, just thinking out loud. Really thought provoking post ...

  8. I'm with E.J., actually - I do believe in science, but I don't think it has all the answers yet. Or rather, IT may have all the answers, but we don't.

  9. It's a pretty smart argument. You can't win an argument with someone who has a totally different value system because they aren't going to see things the same way.

  10. Not that's a quote. Reminds me why I don't venture into argument, that is when the other party has no intention of opening their horizons. :)
