Even childhood.
But at least it stays with us to inspire our stories for the next generation.
I liked Andy so much that I named a major character after him in my second book, Oculus, and essentially, based his appearance off of what he might look like in college. I'm sure there's lots of amazing young men out there just like him. And now I have one in my book. :)
Toy Story 3 was on Encore or something the other night and I was sucked in again. Beautiful movies.

I only saw the first Toy Story. It sounds like I'm missing out.

That's a great character to base your character on. I love those movies. Have problems throwing away my toys though...
ReplyDeleteMy son is a lot like Andy in more than one way. He even has a little sister and between the both of them they have accumulated about 6 of those Woody dolls. He's almost 18 now and still has a Woody doll on his dresser. He will probably take it to college. I had a hard time not crying during Toy Story 3 ughhh.

ReplyDeleteSo smart of you to name your character after someone (even if he's fictional and in a movie) who really resonates with you. That helps to make your new character come to life even more. Now I'm off to track down Toy Story 3 'cause I haven't seen it yet.

ReplyDeleteI watched grown men cry watching Toy Story 3. There's something magical about how he is able to "pass down" the fantasies and joy of make believe when he gives the toys away.
