An uncanny resemblance across generations in Chronicle

I recently saw Chronicle and thought it was pretty good. It's the latest in a string of movies Hollywood exploits with a low budget (probably because Hollywood attendance is on the ropes for any number of reasons, and they want to continue to enjoy being rich).

Anyway, the film's star is this guy named Dane DeHaan. Here's a picture of him:
And here's Leonardo diCaprio when he was young:
Did anyone else that saw this film think...wow...this guy looks like Leo did 15-20 years ago? Maybe Hollywood  just looks for the same kind of pretty boy guy to make into a movie star. Thoughts? Am I off my trolley?

  1. I'm dying to see Chronicle. I don't think these two look that much alike.

  2. I had a weird dream last night. There was a sample from your book supposed to be in this literary journal or something, but when I tried to find it on my Kindle it wasn't there. That's all I remember of it. I probably shouldn't read my Kindle and check the Internet right before bed.

  3. I see a slight resemblance, but I think Dane is a lot cuter!

  4. Some similarities. It's probably Hollywood who's off their trolley.

  5. I loved Chronicle and thought the same thing about the resemblence the whole time I was watching the movie. I think those pictures don't really make them look that much alike but there were scenes in the film where it was like you were looking at a young Leo. I also saw a reviewer make the same comment so you aren't alone there!

  6. It's amazing the similarities that can be drawn. I just recently met a kid who looked so much like Lucas Till, I had to double-look to be sure. I was mistaken in the mall by a couple girls once as that friend in Dawson's Creek. Awkward. :)

  7. They look nothing alike, Michael. The only similarity is their blue eyes. Leo's is still brighter, though.

    I wanna see Chronicle!

  8. As a former portrait painter I don't see that much of a similarity. But in Hollywood they can use make-up, camera angles and lighting to achieve any effect they want. So it's possible these two could look alike in this series.

  9. Not off your trolley. The resemblance is uncanny!

  10. I haven't seen Chronicle but I'll check it out. They do look the same, don't they?

  11. They look a little similar, but not a dead-ringer. Maybe if Dane had the same supple, air-swooshed tussled hairstyle I might think differently!

I want to see Chronicle as well. So glad movies with tiny budgets can still draw an audience.

  12. Oh my gosh. Look at the resemblance. Crazy!

  13. Haven't seen it, but they do look a lot alike.

  14. I haven't seen the movie yet. Probably won't find the time to see it in theaters.
I see a bit of resemblence in the eyes

  15. Oh wow! Total resemblance. I'm not a huge Leo fan. Like his work, but not gaga over his looks. Yes, he's good looking, just not for me. I'll have to check out this show tho. I'm hoping to go see SAFE HOUSE this weekend. Looks good!

  16. They totally look alike! I've forgotten what Leo looked like way back when...still scarred by his J. Edgar Hoover makeup, LOL

  17. Proof that at that age, everyone looks like a dork!

  18. Haha Alex! I don't see many similarities, but a couple. The young Leo just looks like he's trying to hard and the new guy, Dane? He looks like he'd actually be a nice, down to earth person. I agree with whoever said Hollywood is off their trolley.

  19. I think they look very much alike. The shape of their eyes, nose and mouth are similar. It is the jaw line that is different. They both have a beautiful color of blue in their eyes too.

  20. Of course Hollywood is fixated on promoting a rigid concept of good looks. That's why seeing British and some other European films and shows can be a revelation: they're actors sometimes look like everyday human beings.

  21. I don't see the resemblance, but that's probably because I love Dane DeHaan a lot and can't stand Leo DiCarpicosso :)

  22. ...my son's are chompin' at the bit to see this movie, and yes, I agree, those two could be cousins.

  23. I always thought Leonardo DiCaprio was way too fancy of a name.

Anyway...They look somewhat alike, but they their faces are different in shape.

  24. Haven't seen the movie yet, but you're right, both these guys look so similar.

  25. Yeah, I see the resemblance, but it could just be their youth. As we age we get more distinctive.

So, Chronicle was good? I'm intrigued by it. It sounds interesting.

  26. Huh, I didn't make the connection. I always thought Hugh Jackman looked like a young Clint Eastwood. And The Rock looked like a taller, more muscular Rob Schneider.

  27. I have to admit that I heart me some Leo DeCap. I hated the movie Titanic, so I am not one of those screaming fans, but he's handsome and a good actor. Then, my brother posted a picture of Leo in "Man in the Iron Mask" and said I looked like him. No good.

  28. He looks quite a bit like Leonardo. Speaking of which, there are some posters out of the Oscar nominees... check them out. They're funny, some hilarious! It's titled "what if posters told the truth" http://theshiznit.co.uk/feature/if-2012s-oscar-nominated-movie-posters-told-the-truth.php

  29. They do look eerily similar. Maybe Hollywood is cloning people to keep the money rolling in. ;-)

  30. The "eyes" have it. Those piercing yet innocent eyes. I think that's what's so similar about them.

  31. Hollywood certainly has types they cast for certain roles. I'll be interested to see the movie and see if the shots there remind me as much of LD. As for the pics, that looks more like his Growing Pains years than his Titanic one.

  32. Similar eyes and mouth. I'd forgotten that Leo was once so shiny :-)

  33. I haven't seen it. they have similar cheekbones and jawline, but Leo is much cuter. :)

  34. I haven't seen the movie, but I've heard the comparison. It seems to be the consensus.

  35. They do look an awful log alike.
