Merlin Season 4 starts this Friday

I'm a fan of The BBC's Merlin. I own the first two seasons and still have the season finale of season 3 on my DVR. But really all you need to know if you haven't watched it is that there's a lot of homoerotic tension between Arthur and Merlin, Arthur and Merlin are roughly the same age as opposed to one being an old wizard and the other a kid, and Guinevere is black (and doesn't come from a noble family). Oh and Uther (Arthur's dad) was a bigot making all wizards go deep into the "closet".  In season 4, he's dead (which took forever to happen). I'm glad Arthur is finally king.

Essentially, it has nothing to do with the actual story which is why I kinda like it.

Here are some pics to whet your appetite; some are courtesy of my new bloggy friend at Hollywood Spy.
If that's too much armor for you ladies out there then here's something more appropriate:
They all have British accents too. And yes...these are the "Knights of the Round Table". Don't believe that the nutrition and razors in the middle ages produced men like this? Well that's why it's called Merlin because there's magic too. And as you can see...magic makes anything possible. Here's more:
King Arthur
Gwen
Morgana
Does there really even need to be a story with actors and actresses that look this hot? Catch the action with me on the SyFy channel.

See you Wednesday with my Insecure Writer's Support Group post.

  1. I'm sad to say I've never seen it. It will have to go on my list to check out.

  2. Hi! And Happy New Year to thee. Nope, never seen Merlin, but it sounds interesting. And Michael, you're always invited to my Eco Maya Jungle retreat (when it eventually opens).

  3. I'm up to my eyeballs in television shows right now. I refuse to start another until I drop one.

  4. Yeah I only heard that about three times a commercial break every commercial break for two days of the Twilight Zone Marathon. Also an all new season of "Being Human" starts on January 16 followed by the new series "Lost Girl".

(None of which I will watch. Your brainwashing has failed, Syfy.)

  5. I've glimpsed a few episodes of Merlin and that's about all I know about it. But I like the pictures :)

  6. Nutrition and a razor alone won't do that in this contemporary age...lol. Even though the blurb and pics are very tempting, I need to resist.

  7. MERLIN!!!!

I was wondering if it was signed for another season! Yesssss... day is made. ;) I've totally watched all the seasons.

I think Merlin is hot *grins* I like the thin, nerdy boyish look! LOL.

  8. Woah, this is in the fourth season? I thought it was this NEW HOT TV SERIES TO CONCURRENCE GAME OF THRONES, you know that kind of thing. Seems like I was wrong.

Intriguing I must say, but I am disappointed by their King Arthur. At least by the photo, because there's nothing Kingly about him there. He looks like Edward Cullen more than a ruler.

  9. @Grumpy: Damn you! You just stole my "Being Human" post. For the record, I wasn't going to blog about Lost Girl.

  10. Definitely looking forward to this season, Morgana being the bad guy should be interesting. Thanks for sharing! :)

  11. Merlin looks so good. I've been wanting to watch this series, but haven't been able to. Hmm, I wonder if I can get it on my Fire.

  12. Whoa! Hot indeed! You always know all the good shows. Right now I'm obsessed with back episodes of Revenge.

Love the new banner, btw. Especially the little excerpt. Very nice!

  13. So you're turning your blog into a TV Guide now?

  14. @Grumpy: Haven't I always talked about television and movies from time-to-time? That's what monkeys do.

  15. With clothes on I'm drawn to eyes. There are some nice eyes in that bunch. With shirts off...shoulders. I don't know why, but I have a thing for collar bones.

I haven't seen this but think I'll have to look it up just for the British accents. Got any shows with Scottish accents I can look up as well? *le sigh*

  16. Dude. Your new layout looks awesome.

  17. I should give this show a watch. Now that we have cable, we're all but one episode caught up with Walking Dead.

And thank you for being such a great support. I resolved to be a better commenter, not just a reader.

    Happy New Year! :)

I left an award for you at my blog (even though I just noticed you've already received it).

  18. I've not seen this show before, but given that picture of the round table fellows, I think I might become a quick fan:)

  19. It's a good show. Enjoy!

  20. I always think people who say "I really don't watch that much TV" are a bunch of jerks trying to lord it over people how cool they are.

I really don't watch that much TV, though.

  21. Love your posts :) I hadn't even heard of this show, but it looks fun. I need to get my butt off the Food Network channel and explore new possibilities...

  22. You had me with picture number 2! I hope it's on netflix! I've got some time this afternoon while I fold laundry--It's either Merlin or Pride and Prejudice. Hmm...

  23. I really like the banner and can't wait to read the book! As far as Merlin goes, I haven't seen it - it's sad that my days are filled with multiple episodes of Yo Gabba Gabba instead of anything meaty! And those boys/men could definitely qualify as meaty, this carnivore wants to take a bite! ;)

  24. Also, coffee any time you're here in happy valley (Utah County)!

  25. Okay, these look so cool and I haven't even watched them! Pathetic, I know. I'm going to have to add them to my DVR list so I can watch them when the kiddo's go to bed. Otherwise, I never get to watch anything! Thanks for the reminder. :)

  26. i've been teetering on the edge about whether or not i want to watch this and you just totally made up my mind with two words "homoerotic tension". I've got to finish up torchwood, hit season 6 of supernatural, but then i'll need something else to watch while working out and it seems that this has just jumped to the top of my contenders list.
Also, i LOVE your new blog banner

  27. It does sound good and I love movies set in that time period. I'll have to try it sometime.

  28. I have really enjoyed the Merlin series. However, I get tired of King Uther. He annoys me. I haven't finished the 3rd series yet so maybe he is gone, hopefully :)

  29. Too many shows to watch as it is right now.

  30. After the total disappointment that was Camelot and the fact that this is the only positive review of Merlin I've seen (and I looked around a lot), I think I'm gonna have to pass. Too much straying.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Happy New Year! We used to get this one in our country but it's stopped for now.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Sigh... I wish I lived in Camelot. ;-P

  33. I love all things King Arthur. So many different versions to choose from.

I still like the Sci-Fi (Syfy) Merlin movie that came out back in 1998. Sam Niell was Merlin. It was a little more of a fairy tale version, but it was really good.

  34. Happy New Year! The name alone would have sold me. Hahaha.

  35. Happy New Year, mate! This new blog design is to awesome!

  36. I've never heard of this show before. Looks like I'm off to find me a new series. Looks really good. Thanks for sharing.

  37. First off -- LOVE your new banner and the quote from your book. And as for Merlin: I was aware of this series, but now you make me want to catch up on all the episodes.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I kinda stopped watching this in season 3 - might have to pick it up again...

    ReplyDelete
  39. Merlin's coming back. Sigh. Oh, okay.

I've been watching it, but it's not a favorite. I don't hate it enough to drop it. Better go set my DVR (I have to re-schedule everything as we switched cable providers in November).

  40. thanks for the linky dinky, Michael :)
I too love that tension between Merlin and Arthur, I wish he would take Merlin for his queen instead of that Gwen who has one facial expression for all occasions :)

Percival and Gawain are especially hunky in the fourth season. You will see :)

You have an amazing trailer over at HOLLYWOOD SPY, hurry up before the studios take it down from YouTube ;)

    ReplyDelete
  41. And PS sorry for being the 40th to comment :) but HOLLYWOOD SPY headquarters are in Europe, so we sleep when you are awake and vice versa, and I too love your banner, like Falsy does.

  42. Nice to know being a knight keeps those men so buff, especially that blonde middle one in the first picture. And I bet these guys bathe more than those real ones.

    ReplyDelete
  43. This is another one of those shows that I keep meaning to catch. There needs to be way more hours in the day so I can catch up on my tv watching.

    ReplyDelete
  44. When you love a show you really love it, don't you. They should be paying you a cut when the ratings go up. Like Alyson says there are not enough hours in a day. In winter it feels like we have been robbed off of even some of those hours. I will atleast take a glimpse of it though.

  45. Love Merlin have been watching it on BBC, glad to hear it is on Syfy, now... yay, something besides wrestling and ghost hunting.

I really enjoy Lost girl and I like Being Human US. I am not sure if I like it as much as Being Human UK. However, with Mitchell, Nina and George leaving, not sure if I will continue on. I will give it a few shows to see if I relate to the new characters. However, Annie over Sally at this point! Time will tell!
