I'm a big fan of graphic organizers. They give the information at a glance. You don't find yourself bogged down by paragraphs. Quick and to the point.
I've yet to write a serious sex scene. The ones I've attempted have been quite subdued. I understand the possible use of an eraser and Frankenstein bolts as analogies for female body parts, but I can't figure out how either of them could be construed as sexy.
I think I was just trying to be funny O.o But I did get the cherries, frankenstein bolts, and pencil eraser suggestions from a website outlining 12 steps to writing a successful sex scene. There's was very serious though and I thought I'd make fun of it with Scarlett Johannson and a little PhotoShop magic.

Following back crusader. ;) I've never written a steamy love scene. But I would love to try. (I write middle grade.Soo there's not much call for it with me.) But I'd venture to say it would be an EXCELLENT writing exercise. :)

Annem: I love well-written erotica. In my opinion, it is as legit a genre as anything else and should be considered just as literary. I think our society is sexually repressed and frowns on people expressing themselves through language in that way.
"Just don't look bored." That is totally gonna stick with me and haunt me at the worst times, I just know it! LOl Welcome to the crusade Michael. Love this post.
My advice on sex scenes is simple: keep them brief, keep them focussed, and as a general guide, write about the foreplay and the build-up and then bring the scene to an end before the full-on act. Allude to what will follow but don't spell it out. The reader's imagination will be far more erotic than anything you can write.
