Getting My T.V. On

Now that the Emmy's are over and all the television shows that I love are starting up, I decided to do a post about them to 1) organize my thoughts and my DVR and 2) to let you guys know about them in case you want to watch them too and then we can gossip about them. Please say you are nodding your head yes.

SUNDAY
Right now I watch Breaking Bad but as soon as the season is over, the Walking Dead starts in the same time slot on October 16th.  And oh I'm so excited.  Above is the poster for season two and it looks so apocalyptic it just draws me in.  Here's the teaser trailer for the season:

Before AMC's hit series launches into its second season on Oct. 16, we're going to learn exactly what kicked off the zombie apocalypse—through the eyes of one particular zombie.  In Walking Dead's pilot episode, "Days Gone Bye," the good sheriff Rick Grimes stumbles out of a hospital to see a world ravaged by an unseen event that caused the dead to not stay dead. One of the first things he encounters is a legless zombie, slowly making her way from an unseen Point A to an indeterminate Point B.

A new six-part web series, directed and conceived by Walking Dead FX maestro and co-executive producer Greg Nicotero, will tell the story of this zombie—also known by her given name, Hannah—and, through her, reveal the early days of the zombie-laden hell on earth.

The web series will premiere on Oct. 2. The nightmares will begin shortly thereafter.

MONDAY
The Alphas season finale is on 9/26. Coinciding with that is Terra Nova in a huge two-hour series premiere and it looks really frickin' good.  Check out this trailer for it:
Also I shall be watching the new season of House. At the end of last season he drove into Cuddy's home and the preview for this season has him in prison. It's going to occupy the time slot right after Terra Nova so I can watch these or DVR them back-to-back...squee.

WEDNESDAY
This week is the one-hour premiere for Modern Family.  I love this show because it is so funny and the gay couple is refreshing too. Also on Wednesday night is season two of Harry's Law.  I gotta get my court drama in and I absolutely love how Kathy Bates plays Harriet.

THURSDAY
Big Bang Theory beginning with episode 1 entitled, "The Skank Reflex Analysis". After the season four "walk-of-shame" done by Penny after having slept with Rajesh...Penny reveals she wants to be "just friends." Raj replies, "Well as friends then you may want to know that we didn't have sex in the conventional manner." Insert awkward look.   And...I may peek in on Bones even though they really pissed me off with Vincent's death.
FRIDAY
Double whammy of Supernatural season 7 premiere and Fringe season four premiere.  Oh I love you DVR.
So this is what I got lined up. Is anyone else out there passionate about t.v.?

And I swear I am not addicted to t.v.  So none of you get into your minds that you need to stage an intervention.

  1. Ah, the walking dead. It's been too long. I'm definitely going to watch the web series.

  2. Castle is my show, but I did watch Dancing with the Stars just to stare at Chaz. Am I bad?

  3. I can't get excited about the Walking Dead. I don't know why. I'm also concerned that Terra Nova, which I want to watch, will be silly.

You keep pushing Alphas, and I may check that out. Does it rerun?

  4. Breaking Bad and Alphas are my thing at the moment. Of the others you mentioned, I can't wait for Fringe and The Walking Dead. Terra Nova looks like it might be worth a look.

I'm still watching Eureka, but that's more out of sentiment. I think it's gone downhill but I know it's finishing soon, and I've come this far so I might as well see it through :-)

  5. Terra Nova is such a moronic concept. Duh, we didn't know there would be dinosaurs in the past. We're apparently a bunch of Creationists who thought fossils were planted by the liberal media, doy, doy, doy...

The only way to get around that idiocy is if they want to go to a different time but the machine malfunctions and sends them to the wrong point.

  6. OK, going to try not to leave five repeats of the same comment like yesterday! Lol... (glares at computer)

Sounds like some good watching! I gave up my TV a while ago because it was sucking up all my time, but I can remember a time I used to do exactly this (well, minus the blogging about it). Have fun!

  7. Oh, looking forward to The Walking Dead and Supernatural! I can't believe they are all coming back already! And I'm looking forward to Dexter!

  8. The Walking Dead is one of my all time favorite shows. I have no idea how I was not aware of the web series, but it sounds awesome. Thanks, Mike!

  9. Am so looking forward to TERRA NOVA and WALKING DEAD!!! Thank god for DVRs.

  10. I'll check out The Walking Dead - it sounds good, and that poster is amazing!

And YEAH for Modern family! Okay, I'll come by regularly to gossip about it. Just so you're prepared.

    ;-)

  11. I think Terra Nova looks intriguing, too. I don't watch much TV in real time (and I pretty much don't watch any American comedy--the reliance on stupid people as gimmick annoys me) but Breaking Bad, Supernatural and Fringe have all been on my 'see as I can' list, so I think I will check out Walking Dead, too.

  12. ::raises hand:: I'm passionate about TV. And I'm addicted to it as well!

In any case, it's probably easier to tell you which shows I'm NOT watching from your list: House and Harry's Law. I'm looking forward to seeing the rest on your list (and then some, as you know).

  13. I am so nodding my head yes for that terra nova show. Looks so good :)

  14. I'm so excited my shows are coming back.

  15. Darn. I had just finished packing my intervention kit. :/
I'm excited to see the next season of Walking Dead. Oh, glorious zombies...

  16. Yay for fall tv! Thanks for the reminder to get my DVR in order.

  17. I want to squish the writers behind Sheldon in a deathly (but nerdly weak) hug and sing their praises.

Thank God for smart TV hanging on for another season (THEY SHOULD HAVE WON THE EMMY!!).

  18. Out of this long list the two that I will definitely be watching are TERRA NOVA and MODERN FAMILY (and VAMPIRE DIARIES started last week! Yay!).

  19. Fine taste in tv. I got rid of my dvr when I quit my job and I miss it terribly...the dvr, not the job.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Oh, PS, I actually came over here because Rach Harrie said you organized all the judging for the first campaigner challenge and I wanted to say WELL DONE and THANK YOU for undertaking such a massive job!

  21. I'm a HUGE Big Bang Theory fan. It's probably because I have a Sheldon like son. :)

  22. *sigh* I miss television, but I just don't watch much anymore. I shall have to live vicariously through you for now (aka, until Top Chef comes back on) :)

  23. I'll be honest. I don't watch TV. Just what's really recommended and we rent them later. And while I'm not a horror guy, at all, I fell in love with The Walking Dead. Great show. They really nailed the idea of a zombie outbreak (slow lumbering zombies - no sprinting zombies - thank you!)

    Awesome shows. Awesome Post. :)

  24. Michael, I dropped by to thank you for the great organization of Rachael Harrie's campaign challenge. I'm impressed.

Love the new shows are back on, too. I'll be watching Alphas to the end and tracking right into Terra Nova. Also, I'm a big fan of Big Bang Theory, having been raised by a physicist myself. I'm, already excited that Survivor is back on and Amazing Race is coming soon. BTW, I'm not addicted either, but ya gotta love some of the shows out there.

  25. I've never seen "Walking Dead" but it sounds interesting. "Terra Nova" does look good. "Jurassic Park" every week. Count me in.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I do have a TV addiction.

I'm worried about Terra Nova. Think back to all the big event shows over the past couple years. How many of them lasted more than a season? How many of them even finished a season? And I can't help thinking about how many of them that fell short in some manner.

I don't know if I want to commit to Terra Nova. I don't know if I want to invest the energy only to have the show pulled out from under me.

  27. I'm totally addicted to television. My TV themed blogs will start showing up again probably this Friday.

I need to get caught up on the first season of Walking Dead before the new episodes begin. I have the DVDs but I can't figure out when to watch them because honestly, I can't watch them before bed because then I have zombie dreams and I don't want to have zombie dreams. Still, an awesome show.

I love Modern Family oh so much. I also love Supernatural and the Big Bang Theory.

I haven't decided on House yet. I've watched it in seasons past so I'll probably end up watch this one too.

    ReplyDelete
  28. So, so excited for House and Big Bang Theory! Eeeep! :D

    ReplyDelete
  29. I've mostly given up tv in order to write more but I WILL be watching The Walking Dead :)

    ReplyDelete
  30. House, Walking Dead, and Big Bang Theory are on my watch list. Saw the season ender of Eureka last night and now have to wait until next year for the final season. So wrong it is ending!

  31. Yay for new fall TV! I'm looking forward to the return of Chuck, though I don't know the exact date, and also How I met your mother, Gossip Girl, Supernatural (with Jewel Staite, Charisma Carpenter, and James Marsters!) and Big Bang Theory.

And all campaigner greetings from me to you.

  32. I'm looking forward to Modern Family, House(I thought it was cancelled, I'm glad it isn't), Bones, Castle and Mentalist. You showed me some that look good, I'll have to check them out.

  33. 1) Glee. So while at Lizzie's house, we were surfing through Netflix for something to watch and, having heard much of this show, decided to watch it so we could laugh at it. We got addicted. I watched the whole first season in a weekend. Unfortunately, season two is only on DVD. The second out of seven is being shipped to my house as I type this. Season three premieres like... right now. I've set it to record until I catch up.

    2) The Biggest Loser. Which is also premiering... now. This is a show that my mother, my sister, and I watch together.

    3) Law and Order: SVU. I don't know if I'm going to be faithful to this show, but it premieres tomorrow, and I enjoy it. They also have all 11 seasons on Netflix. 0-0

    4) A random montage of Bones, Modern Family, How I Met Your Mother, Mentalist, Fringe, etc. from being at Lizzie's house. :)

  34. You have the same TV schedule as I do. That might be a little weird if it wasn't so cool! I tuned in last night for Terra Nova, but found out pretty quickly it wasn't on until next week. Oops!

    ReplyDelete
  35. I'm fangirl-excited for Big Bang! And we watch How I Met Your Mother, which is a bit hit and miss, but occasionally brilliant.

I said I wasn't going to watch America's Next Tortured-for-your-Amusement Skinny Girl, but I slipped and my finger hit the remote control and I watched the pilot. I'm deeply ashamed. But really, one must study the enemy.

  36. Now I have a problem. I wasn't going to get the cable on until Madmen came back on. But I also don't want to miss Walking Dead... And can't wait to see Terra Nova! We'll compare notes!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Thumbs up for good TV dramas - they beat reality TV any day of the week!

    ReplyDelete
  38. I can't wait for Supernatural. Terra Nova looks good too, mostly because it has dinosaurs in it. I'll watch just about anything with dinosaurs. :)

    ReplyDelete
  39. I really hope Terra Nova is good. It's right up my family's alley (except for hubby, but he'll be out voted).

    ReplyDelete
  40. I still haven't watched Harry's law. I think I might give it a shot. This year I'm super excited about Supernatural and crazy Cass, and I think the Ringer is an amazing show. I still have loads more but I don't want everyone to see me as the TV Junkie I am LOL or the Crazy Whovian.

  41. We SO need to get together and watch TV! I'll bring the snacks. I've got The Walking Dead and Terra Nova premiers on my calendar.
