Captain America GQ 2011

Dear ladies that read my blog (and any men that feel comfortable commenting on this post), I have one simple question for you.

If a car was hurtling toward you in the parking lot that would result in your inescapable death, would you prefer to be saved by Edward Cullen played by Robert Pattinson in the Twilight movies (adaptation of the Twilight books by Stephenie Meyer) or by this man...

Chris Evans...

Who plays the stars and stripes Captain America superhero from the Marvel Comics of the same name. Here are the photographs from Cap's photo spread taken by famed photographer Mario Testino.

Here's the newest movie trailer that hit June 22nd for your Monday pleasure :) Remember, the movie comes out July 22nd, 2011. Go Red, White, and Blue!

  1. Well, if those are the ONLY two choices I'd take Chris, but I'm more of a David Boreanaz kinda girl. Although now that he's being a schmuck I might have to start looking around again. Why can't guys stay faithful to their wives?

Oh, and who thought up this photo shoot? Weird all around. The baby? A cage?

  2. *Raises eyebrow* Those are my choices? I'd be afraid of getting hurt worse in their attempts to look pretty while saving me. I think I'll take my chances with the hurtling car. (Hugs) Indigo

P.S. Rugged will outshine pretty any day. Just saying...

  3. A fair point, I think. They are both a little pretty for my taste--I like a little roughness (it's my bad boy thing), but the shots here that feel a little retro are VERY nice.

  4. Only if he brings his dog and turtleneck.

  5. Charity: GQ's photographer thought of it. I think the baby is meant to show that he can be a family man. And the cage means that he's good at taking care of pets and putting stuff together.

Hart: YOU DIDN'T ANSWER THE QUESTION--EDWARD vs. CAP... WHO WINS?

  6. Chris would win that contest (I personally hate Robert P. in the role of Edward Cullen.) I agree that this photo shoot is kind of weird... the pictures seem totally random.

  7. He has the same expression in each photo, but if I had to choose, it would be him (and not the Ginger Chris Evans we have here in the UK...lol).

However, my personal choice would be Jake Gyllenhaal. What can I say. I'm a Gyllenholic...

  8. DRC: You are not allowed to pick someone other than Edward or Captain America. Sheesh.

  9. Since I'm not a fan of the Twilight books, I'd have to pick Chris Evans.

If you need, I can come up with a list of guys who are welcome to save me. But I can see from above that this idea is frowned upon.

  10. I just don't want some smartass like Rogue Mutt saying, "The only savior I would need is Jesus!"

  11. It is SO tempting right now to say "The only savior I would need is "Rogue Mutt."

But I'll play fair: Captain America would be my choice to save me.

Wasn't he also the Human Torch?

  12. I'll take the Captain. This is after I went and browsed images of Edward just to make it fair. They are similiar types, so it was kind of hard to make a decision.

  13. Briane P: Thanks for the links and the commentary on my time post. I'll check those out. And yes, he was the Human Torch in a movie I'm assuming he would like it best if we forget that it even existed.

Cinders: I'm shocked. Pattinson looks nothing like Evans. He has no muscles...complete wimp with his shirt off.

  14. Chris Evans--I don't really like Robert Pattinson, and the association with Edward Cullen doesn't help. Although I do have to agree, the style of those pictures does seem a bit weird to me.

  15. Chris Evans. He is very nice to look at and I loved him as the Human Torch. (Those pictures are really weird and random though...)
I do like the Twilight books though. Yes. I'm not afraid to admit it. :) I just like book Edward better than movie Edward.

  16. Is Henry Cavill a choice?

I see someone has a new 'love'. :D He is pretty.

  17. Hehehehe! FYI, your blog post is the best I've read all day. Free eye candy always wins my vote!
No offense to Edward Cullen, but Captain America can save me any day.
    Thanks for the laugh!

  18. Totally Chris!! But I didn't dig the naked baby picture. Too freaky.

Of course, Charity did bring up David Boreanaz *sighs*

    .......dhole

  19. I think I'm with Indigo. Too pretty. I want to be saved by George Clooney or Jon Hamm or maybe Johnny Depp. But he's definitely better looking than the Twilight guy. Cheers!

  20. Eagle: I agree

Chantele: I liked him as Human Torch too. I would Squee but guys don't know how to squee.

M Pax: Henry Cavill is not a choice. Sadly...maybe i need to broaden my poll of people to save you from being crushed by a truck.

Emily: Thank you very much :) You're awesome.

    D. Hole: No likey freaky baby picture? Hmmm. I kinda like it.

Danette: George may save you but he'd never marry you. Chris, he'd hold your baby...see picture above.

  21. Only the women get to answer? I hope this blog is fair and balanced and will allow us men the chance to contemplate being rescued by a dreamy, sexy woman.
Not sure why anyone would want to be saved by Edward only to be carried to the top of a tree and given an awkward, creepy look.

  22. I don't think I understand any of these photos. Then again, I'm sure I'm not meant to.

    It Just Got Interesting

  23. Haha, those are some interesting choices. I'd take them both out to dinner and decide later after a good conversation, LOL.

    The trailer looks good tho!

  24. I loved him as the Torch. I really like that movie, actually. They got the chemistry of the family pretty close to just right. The Torch and the Thing were perfect.

I'm sensing that Hart wants to pick Hugh Jackman.

  25. I'd probably want to be saved by the person best equipped to actually, you know, save me. I won't be picky, it's my life on the line after all.

That said, I do think Chris Evans is way more charismatic than the other guy.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I'd just want to be saved, thank you very much. Most likely, neither of them would bother with me.

    ReplyDelete
  27. All I see is Charity's mention of David Boreanaz... *drool* hehe

    ReplyDelete
  28. Wait...seriously I can't just have Chris Pine was my first thought. Then I remembered Chris Evans in the Torch, particularly all those shirtless scenes. After picking up my jaw off the ground, I guess it's a new law that all actors named Chris with lead roles must be uber sexy.

Who needs a cold vampire anyway? Give me a pyro any day.

  29. Chris Evans, for sure. That was an easy question. :D

  30. Chris Evans. I don't want my man to sparkle...except if he's covered in body glitter.

And p.s. Captain America has a hot brother, too! http://www.akawilliam.com/interview-with-scott-evans-chris-evans-hot-gay-brother
